Q. Is my registration fee tax-deductible?

No, your registration fee helps defray the costs of producing the Race and is not considered tax-deductible. However, any amount that you choose to donate above the entry fee is tax-deductible.

Q. Can I transfer my registration if I'm unable to attend?

No, registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Q. What is included in the registration fee?

You will get a Race number, a Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® t-shirt, and a great feeling!

Q. How can I register?

You can register online by clicking here. Online registration closes on Wednesday, June 1. On-site registration will reopen the morning of the Race at 7:00 a.m.

Q. How will I receive my Race packet including t-shirt?

Packet Pickup will be held on Friday, June 3 at Bushnell Park from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Q. How long is the Race?

The Race is a 5K route, which is approximately 3.1 miles. You may choose to walk or run. If you are unable to walk or run, you can still register and join us on Race day. We are always looking for people to cheer on our runners and walkers. The Kids Fun Run is a 1K.

Q. How can I become a volunteer?

The success of the Race for the Cure depends heavily on the support we receive from our volunteers in the months leading up to the Race and on Race Day. There are many ways you can get involved. For more information, contact mstaubley@komensouthernnewengland.org.

Q. Are pets and strollers allowed at the event?

Pets are prohibited from the event, but strollers are permitted.

Q. What if it rains?

The event is rain or shine. If an impending weather situation is apparent, the Race officials shall make a determination whether to delay, or postpone or cancel the event based on information obtained by the National Weather Service. In that case, registration fees are not refunded and are considered a donation to Komen Southern New England.

Q. Does the Komen Race for the Cure® require fundraising?

You are not required to fundraise, but we do encourage all participants to fundraise above the entry fee. Just Imagine the IMPACT - If every Race participant raises just $100 in addition to their registration fee, we would bring in an additional $300,000 to support local screening, treatment and educational programs in our community!

Q. What is a matching gift and how do I apply for one?

A matching gift is when a person makes a donation to a nonprofit organization and his or her employer donates an equal or greater amount to the same group. A matching gift is a great way for a donor to double his or her contribution to the local fight against breast cancer. You can find out from your employer if they offer a matching gift program.

Q. Does the money raised stay right here in our community?

Yes! Seventy-five percent of the net income from the Race stays right here in our community to fund vital breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs. The remaining twenty-five percent supports national groundbreaking research.

Q. Where do I send donations?

Send checks to:

Susan G. Komen Southern New England

74 Batterson Park Road, Farmington CT 06032

*For donations on behalf of an individual participant or a team, please include that information with your check.

Q. Is there a deadline for fundraising?

All donations on your behalf that are received by June 24, 2016 will be credited to your fundraising total.

Q. What are some ways I can fundraise for my team/my individual goal?

We have plenty of ideas on our Fundraising Tips page!
